ANNUAL DRAMA FESTIVAL

KING COUNTRY FEDERATION CUP WON BY TAUMARUNUI The annual drama festival of the King Country Federation of Women’s Institutes was held at the Parish Hall, Te Kuiti, on Friday last. After Mrs Beable, president of the Federation, had extended a welcome to the members of the visiting Institutes, the plays were presented to a large and appreciative audience. The winning play was “The Bride,” presented by the Taumarunui Women’s Institute, second place was awarded to Otorohanga for “The Imposter” and third to Mangapehi, “A Quiet Chat.” A merit certificate was also awarded to Otorohanga for a dialogue, “The Reason Why.” This of course did not come under the same section as the plays. The judge, Mrs K. W. Low, commented on the plays and presented the winning cup to Taumarunui and the certificates to the other Institutes. The marks of the plays have been forwarded to the competitors.

Afternoon tea was served by members of the Te Kuiti Institute.
