OBITUARY
MR WILLIAM CASSEY (Special to Times) OTOROHANGA, Thursday The death occurred in Otorohanga on Monday of Mr William Cassey, of Hinewai Street. Bom in 1861 in North East Valley, Dunedin, Mr Cassey was the son of Mr Henry Cassey. He was married in Dunedin to Miss Sarah Home. Mrs Cassey died at Eketahuna in 1902. For many years Mr Cassey was in the employ of the New Zealand Railways Department, and he had been stationed at Port Chalmers, Duntroon, Kaitoke, Eketahuna, Petone and Palmerston North, coming to Otorohanga 30 years ago. He retired in 1920, and, after residing at Wellington for a short period, returned to Otorohanga. He was a staunch member of the Presbyterian Church, and in latter years was a well-known figure on the bowling greens. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs S. E. McCready (Tauranga), and Mrs Lily Stewart (Paekakariki), and three sons, Mr Herbert Cassey (Apia), Mr William Cassey (Christchurch), and Mr James Cassey (Wellington). The funeral took place on Wednesday afternoon at the Otorohanga Cemetery.
