Carriers’ Stand Removal
Reporting to a meeting of the Hamilton Borough Council last night, the borough engineer, Mr R. Worley, said that upon making an examination of the work necessary in connection with the moving of the carriers’ stand to the part of Bryce Street near Barton Street it was only too obvious that now several wood and coal merchants were established along the street, the whole length from the railway entrance to Selkirk Street should be kerbed and asphalted. As it stood it would be little credit to a country village. The horse trough also added to the general untidiness, and as it was rarely used the engineer thought it might reasonably be removed altogether. The cost of carrying out the work outlined was estimated at £ll2. The matter was referred to the works committee.
