PLANES FOR BRITAIN
OFFER BY UNITED STATES 1300 TO 1400 MONTHLY STATEMENT BY MISSION (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received August 14, 11 a.m.) WASHINGTON, Aug. 13 Mr Purvis, chief of the British Purchasing Commission, announced that the United States has offered to sell Britain from 1300 to 1400 planes monthly, beginning late in 1941. Mr Purvis said: “ The offer was made in data submitted by Mr Knudsen, and is in the nature of a counteroffer to the British moves to obtain 3000 planes monthly. We are considering carefully the data and endeavouring to work out the project. The offer was made after consideration of America’s own defence needs.” CROWN PRINCESS OF NORWAY VISIT TO AMERICA (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyrig-ht) STOCKHOLM. August 13 The Norwegian Legation at Stockholm announced that Crown Princess Martha of Norway and her three children are going to the United States from Petsamo shortly as President Roosevelt’s personal guests.
