EUROPEAN MUSIC
THE HAMILTON ASSOCIATION VERY ENJOYABLE PROGRAMME Last night’s meeting of the Hamilton Music Students’ Association was devoted to European music, a very representative, enjoyable and interesting programme being enjoyed by a large audience. Visitors were welcomed by the president, Miss Frances Jolly. The programme was as follows: Songs, “Twilight Fancies” (Delius) and “Five Eyes” (Armstrong Gibbs), Miss Mobinie, of Wellington; violin and piano, first movement from Concerto in A Major (Mermann Suter), Mrs H. Biland (violin) and Mrs H. Hammond (piano); songs, “Devotion” (Richard Strauss) and “Si mes vers avaient des ailes” (Reynolds Hahn), Miss N. Campbell; Romance (Sibelius), Deux Arabesques (Debussy) and Gnomenreigen (Liszt), Mrs G. R. Burnett; songs, “The Lime Tree” (Schubert) and “Silent Worship” (Handel), Mr Medwin; Hungarian Dance No. 2 (Brahms), Mrs H. Biland; songs, “Caro Mio Ben” (Giordani) and “The Fairy Tree” (O’Brien), Mrs W. Coltman; Fantasia and Fugue in C (Mozart), Reflections in the Water (Debussy), and Seguidillas (Albeniz), Mr Stanley Jackson. The accompanists were Mrs A. English, Mrs H. Hammond, Miss A. Gillies and Mr H. Cook.
