SUCCESSFUL BRITISH ATTACKS MILITARY CAMPS BOMBED TROOP CONCENTRATIONS HIT (Official Wireless) (Received Aug. 12, 11 a.m.) RUGBY, Aug. 11 A Royal Air Force communique issued at Cairo states: Military camps and motor transport concentrations in the Gabra and Sales area have been successfully attacked by our bombers, all of which returned safely. The wreckage of a Savoia bomber, washed ashore near Qasaba, is believed to be an aircraft which was reported to have been interceptd and damaged by our fighters on August 4. In East Africa the Bametu aerodrome and dispersed aircraft have been bombed and machine-gunned. A formation of Savoia bombers raided Royal Air Force landing grounds in the Sudan without causing carnage or casualties to the Royal Air Force personnel. In a raid on the Karrim Pass, in Somaliland, bombs fell among antiaircraft positions, some of which were silenced. Our aircraft returned safely. Enemy troop concentrations and an important water-hole near Dubats were attacked twice, the bombs being seen to fall on a motor transport column. Three Savoias raided Aden, causing slight material damage and killing two natives. Successful Patrol Work Today’s Cairo communique states: In the western desert the patrolling and reconnaissance of enemy activities continue. In Somaliland contact has not yet been established on the main positions. The situation at Burao and to the east is normal. There is nothing to report in Palestine, Kenya and the Sudan.
