Copyright) (Received August 10, 1 p.m.) SHANGHAI, August 9 Mayou-Feng, described as Wang-Ching-Wei’s lieutenant, was shot dead in the International Settlement. The murderer escaped. CHUNGKING, August 9 One hundred Japanese planes bombed Chungking. The casualties are estimated at 1000, mostly civilians. Six areas within the city were set on Are. The American Methodist mission school and physics building were damaged, and fires broke out near the United States Embassy. SHANGHAI, August 9 The Japanese assert that the abovementioned Chungking raid wrecked and burned Marshal Chiang Kaishek’s residence.
