BELIEVED KILLED
PILOT-OFFICER H. D. DIXON BROTHER WAS IN GRAF SPEE (By Telegraph.—Press Association) AUCKLAND, Saturday According to private advice the Air Ministry has reported PilotOfficer Herbert D. Dixon, R.A.F., missing, believed killed, after an air operation on May 27. His mother is Mrs Margaret Dixon, formerly of Parnell, who left Auckland in February to join her husband in China. A brother, Mr Archard Dixon, was on the Tairoa travelling to England when the vessel was sunk. He was made prisoner aboard the German pocket battleship Graf Spee, and is now a member of the Royal Air Force. Another brother is serving with the New Zealand Forces in Egypt.
DUNEDIN FLYING OFFICER (By Telegraph.—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Saturday The following Air Force casualty is officially announced:— Flying-Officer Laurence Herbert McFarlane, reported killed in action. His father is Mr H. O. McFarlane, of 72 English Avenue, Mornington, Dunedin.
