The barometer reads 30.10 (1019 millibars) and has a rising tendency. Improved weather conditions may he expected today and to-morrow with lower temperature, south • easterly winds prevailing. The Rainfall Ralnrall ror 24 hours ended 9 o’clock this morning, .451 n. Ralnrall for previous 24 hours, .05in. Ralnrall for August to date, 1.951 n. Average ralnrall for August, 3.961 n. Ralnrall for year to date 38.34in. Average yearly ralnrall, 46.32 inches. SPECIAL FORECAST (By Government Meteorologist) The special forecast by the Government Meteorologist, covering the Walkato-Thames Valley Is as follows: -General situation: A depression Is centred to the north of Auckland, while an anticyclone extends from Australia on to the South Island. Forecast: Moderate to fresh south-easterly to southerly winds; weather unsettled, with occasional rain, but improving; cool to moderate temperatures; seas moderate.
