578 MEN READY
LAST OF VOLUNTEERS AWAITING MILITARY CALL NO. 4 AREA VOLUNTEERS As a result of medical examinations conducted since the close of voluntary enlistment on July 22, additional men are becoming available for immediate mobilisation. In the No. 4 (Hamilton) military area 578 men are available for camp. The district’s requirements for the Fourth Reinforcements of the Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force are 492. At the close of voluntary enlistment there was a large number of men still awaiting medical examination. That number has been reduced in the No. 4 area to 100, who have still to appear before the medical boards. No further sittings of the boards will be held in Hamilton until next Wednesday week, although examinations are being arranged in some of the other centres in the area. There are 578 men fit for active service in any part of the world and available for camp. There are 261 men temporarily unfit and 632 permanently As many as 535 men are being held back on essential occupations.
