TALKS WITH WORKERS INDIAN TROOPS VISITED (Official Wireless) (Received Aug. 9, 11.30 a.m.) RUGBY, August 8 The King and Queen to-day visited a factory at Derby. Their Majesties were making a tour of the Midlands and spent an hour at the factory, during which they saw the work in every stage of production. Large crowds cheered jheir Majesties as they drove through the town to the factory. The King had a long talk with the chairman of . the Shop Stewards’ Association, who, when the King asked if they had had any trouble said that they had only had small difficulties to overcome. Previously Their Majesties inspected a camp of Indian soldiers in South Derbyshire. Here the traditional presentation of gold and silver to the King-Emperor was made by two Indian soldiers. The gifts were carried on pieces of white cloth. The King, as a token of acceptance, touched them with his fingers, and afterwards remitted them. The troops were of the Royal Indian Regiment. They served in France and were evacuated from Dunkirk.
