BOMBS ON BRITAIN

SANATORIUM DAMAGED GERMANS DROP FLARES CASUALTIES AMONG WOMEN (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. CoDyright) LONDON, August 8 Bombs were dropped in various parts of Britain last night by isolated enemy aircraft. In a town in northeastern England a sanatorium and shop property suffered considerably. Raiders dropped big flares before bombing a south-east coastal town, where they caused extensive damage to several houses. In one part of northern England leaflets were dropped. Casualties were few. The only serious injuries were suffered by some women who were walking on a country road.

At least six German bombers and three fighters were shot down this morning in an attack on a convoy of shipping in the English Channel.
