PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH 68th ANNUAL MEETING INCREASE IN MEMBERSHIP The 68th annual meeting of Trinity Presbyterian Church, Cambridge, was held last night when the Rev. H. W. Hitchcock .presided over a smaller attendance than usual. The report of the session stated that attendances at services, both in Cambridge and at the seven outstations, had been well maintained. There had been a steady increase in membership. During the year 26 members had been received by certificate and 21 by profession of faith. Nine members had been transferred, and three had died. The recently purged roll showed the membership to be 343. Baptisms during the year totalled 29, and marriages 25. In speaking to the report the minister extended thanks to all who had assisted him in the work of the Church. The troubled state of the world made people realise the need of the church, stated Mr Hitchcock. It was the church that stood for things that were vital to the nation and to the world. Financial Position Referring to the financial statement, Mr Hitchcock said that the position was even better than shown by the balance sheet. The year had commenced with a debit of £62 and concluded with a debit of £22, which looked as if the funds had improved by £4O. However, in the previous year, the debit of £62 included a grant from the centenary account, and the improvement this year was actually £IOO. The response to missions had been well maintained, the allocation of £IBB being exceeded by £49. The managers, who retired by rotation, were re-elected. They are Messrs R. Fisher, Edgar James, E. McCandlish, A. McVicar, C. Thompson and H. Webb. Mr Edgar James was re-elected auditor. Supper was served and during the evening items were given by Miss June Maisey (songs), Mr T. Mowat (comet solos), and by the choir (glees).
