CLAIMS BY GERMANY SEVERAL PLANES DESTROYED BRITISH RAID ON HAMBURG (Cnltcd Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received July 30, 3.15 p.m.) BERLIN, July 29 A communique states: A U-boat sank 18,750 tons out of a stronglyprotected convoy. Another sank a 6000-ton vessel off the British coast. In Sunday’s air battles over the Channel we shot down six enemy planes, losing one of ours. The British last night dropped only a few bombs In north Germany and west Germany. There was no damage, except that one bomb fell in a residential quarter of Hamburg. The efficiency of the air raid precautions minimised the damage.
