Trout Liberation

' Over four million trout ova have already been secured at the Tongariro stripping pens this season, which is approximately two million more than the number secured by this period last year. Stripping is also proceeding at Te Wairoa, Lake Tarawera, but here the fish appear to be late in running and the number of eggs secured is slightly less than at the end of July last year. There arc at present over three million eggs in the Ngongotaha hatchery, and the first liberations were carried out there during the week-end, when . 400.000 fry were liberated in various ! parts of Lakes Rotorua and Rotoiti. i A further 160,000 fry will be liber- ' sted this week, probably at Tarawera.
