SAMOANS TO GIVE AEROPLANE | (By Telegraph.—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Monday A citizens’ meeting considered the proposal of the United Progressive Party that funds be raised in Western Samoa to buy or help to buy an aeroplane as a gift to the Royal Air Force from Samoa, states a Press Association message from Apia. The initial effort will be to raise £SOOO N subscription, but if this sum is not obtained whatever is collected will be given toward the cost of an 1 aeroplane. Cook Islands Effort | The people of the Cook Isalnds are giving splendid assistance to New Zealand’s patriotic effort. There have been two contributions amounti ing to £IOO from the arikis, chiefs, I Maori people and island council of I Atiu. Recently a package of knitted comforts arrived from the islands. Since then the National Patriotic Board has received through the Cook Islands Department a cheque for £SOO from the European and native . people of Rarotonga.
