TE AWAMUTU ORPHANS
“LADIES’ NIGHT” HELD (Special to Time?) TE AWAMUTU, Monday The Te Awamutu Orphans’ Club “ladies’ night” was held on Saturday. As Bro. J. Oliphant, who is in command of the Maori Training Battalion at Papakura, was unable to accept the invitation to preside, the president, Bro. B. Malone, was in charge of the function. The programme was contributed to by the choir, Bros. Bert Hey, M. Calder, C. Linehan, Malone and Swarbrick. At the supper interval, the chairman gave a short talk on the subject of amateur plays with particular reference to the recent production of “Good-morning Bill.” Bro. F. W. Bevin, who has been a member during his residence at Te Awamutu, was the recipient of a handsome volume of Shakespeare's works as a mark of appreciation.
