LADIES’ BRACELET TO TAUNU GOLDEN ENGLAND WINS CUP (B.T. —Special from “Martian”) ROTORUA, Saturday With the track in good order for this time of the year and the weather ideal, the annual meeting of the Rotorua and Bay of Plenty Hunt Club was held at the Arawa Park racecourse, Rotorua, today. Taunu, who was having his first race, drew handy to the leaders abroachlng the turn and carried on to outstay the opposition decisively, calshot had every chance but weakened over tin* last furlong. c:alslmt was the first tu show out and passing the stands was followed by Taunu, surpeen, Illimani and Little Scotch. Along the back ualshot and Taunu were followed by Little srbtch. but the last-named went J" the front approaching the turn and was y ailing - Calshot as they levelled up for ►me. with Taunu moving up and Illimani and Surpeen In that order. Taunu did best in the run borne, winning by a length Tr-om Calshot, with Illimani two lengths away. Little Scotch was Tourth and surpcen next. Time, 1.5 S 2-5. INNOVATION STAKES Of £GO; 5 4 furs. As in the previous race, the winner returned a double-figure dividend on the win machine. 'Hitting the front practically from the outset Joy Vaals stayed on in a tight finish to win narrowly Troon Rara Avis, with the improving Gay Rosette practically in line third. The favourite Airport was right up Tourth arter having every chance.
Rara Avis and Joy YaaLs began smartly, the latter going to the front along the hack and showing out from MansUra, Airport, Lord Waitangl and Prince Jay, witli Face Value wide out. Joy Vaals was still in charge at the half-mile and led into the straight from Mansura, Gay Rosette (on the outer) and Rara Avis. In an exciting finish Joy Vaals beat Rara Avis by a neck with Gay Rosette ouly a short head away. Airport was right up fourth followed by Spats, Lord Waitangl, Acute and Prince Jay. Time, l.y 2-5.

Fat Boy, assisted by the mediocrity or the company, gave his best performance to date, drawing to the front entering the straight and going on to win decisively. Gael shaped meritoriously in outstaying the di.-appointing Klcatera. Tllimand fell along the bark and l.liberal's Mint came to grief at the last obstacle. Liberal’s Mint was early in the lead and passing the stands was rolknved by Etcetera, Gael and Fal Boy, ,wlth a gap to Tavern Song and Pertinax. Etcetera ran past Liberal’s Mint aong the back, where Gael and Fat Boy were handily placed, but Gael then took charge, only to he displaced in the lead at the home turn Fat Boy. This pair showed out as they levecied up for homo from Etcetera and they were clear of Tavern Song, Pertinax, Liberal’s Mint and Pal. Nothing had a chance with Fat Boy in the deciding stages and he won by eight lengths from Gael, with a similar distance to Etcetera. Tavern Song was fourth, followed by Pertinax and Pal. Actually the race was rubbed of a con.-icler-ablc interest when the woiu-supportod division went out of the running and from England in the latter stageis being tniiv a furlong clear or Cockalarum and Nukutere. who was following at a gap of over 20 lengths.
