CHORUS GIRLS
SHORTAGE IN HOLLYWOOD Hollywood requires not only more talent, but more glamour. Chorus girls there are not what they used to be. They are sparse in numbers and not so good-looking. The studios said that “A Night at Earl Carroll’s” would present a large chorus of dancing film cuties, the first movie to do so for nearly five years, but it may be obliged to cut the originally planned number in half. Most of the new candidates have not displayed the same beauty, poise and ability known in the days when Busby Berkeley’s dazzling routines were the rage. When the studio called for appli- ! cations it expected 500 or more girls ■ to report for tests. Only 126 re- | sponded to the call.
