THE JOY OF GIVING!
Christmas ! and snow on the hillsides. Spread there, for the children s sake; And fairy scenes on the window, And glassy ice on the' lake. A warm, red glow on the ceiling, Thrown up by the lo'g fire bright; And presents and games and carols And a merry party tonight. A creaking table of good things, Where endless daintids abound; And, oh ! for the joy of living When Christmastide comes round ! l Christmas ! and dark is) the sheiling And dingy the city street; No food in the little cupboards, No shoes for the children's feet. No cheerful game on the hearth rug, No happy song on the air; And many a struggling mother Now sunken in deep despair. Oh, would we but bring the iitgkless A taste of our own good cheer, ' y We'd know of the joy of giving, y And blessings would crown our '• year.
