A MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Hark, the herald angels sing! Sweet the tale the old song tells; glad the neivs that angels bring; glad the clanging of the bells; glad our greetings as we meet; young and old join gladsome praise. Christmas joys are joys complete. Christmas is a day of days.

Bells up in the steeple high make the merry echoes ring; carols rising to the sky laud the newborn Babe and King; hearts to-day are warm and kind, as with joy our praise is sung; with the manger brought to mind, leal the thoughts of old and young. Happiness surrounds the hearth, happy children laugh and play; glad songs rise to heaven from earth : “Christ the Lord is born today!”

Snow may cover hill and wold, fields may fallow be and bare, but our hearts are never cold; love towards the Babe lies there. Gloomy winter’s blasts may blow, cold the frosts and driving showers —this same love sets hearts aglow, love for this great King of ours. Ring out, then, ye merry bells ! Sing, ye herald angels, sing ! ’Tis the sweetest song that tells of the birth of Christ our King. “Merry Christmas!” now we say, praying that love this earth may fill. “Christ the Lord is born today ! Peace on earth, to men goodwill!”
