MORRINSVILLE SPORTS
MOTOR-CYCLISTS ENGAGED RACING ON GRASS TRACK With the grass track adjacent to the 518-yard speedway engaged, motor-cycling racing of a thrilling order will be witnessed at Morrinsville on January 2, when the annual sports meeting of the Morrinsville Athletic and Cycling Club will be held. Motor-cyclists from many parts of the Dominion have expressed
their intention of competing at the meeting and have stated that the Morrinsville track is ideally suited to the sport. In addition, midget car racing will feature Frank Brewer, who has just returned from America, Ken Wylie (Australia) and G. Mathieson (Auckland), who will meet in pursuit races, scratch races and novelty events. The grass track is three furlongs long, and the motor-cycle and car racing will occupy about one and a-half hours of the programme. One of the chief attractions in the cycling events, which have drawn entries from all parts of the Dominion, will be the match races between George Giles (Christchurch) and D. Moreland (Westland), both of whom have been seen in action at Morrinsville in the past. The comprehensive programme also includes a number of wrestling bouts, among which the chief attraction will be the match between J. Irvine (Auckland), and W. Kenneth (Auckland) over eight five-minute rounds.
