HAUTAPU SCHOOL
PRESENTATION OF PRIZES (Special to Times) HAUTAPU, Wednesday The Hautapu School held its break-up party in the presence of a large number of parents and friends. The children entertained with folk dancing, songs and recitations, and later the parents inspected the display of school work. Prizes were presented as follows: —Home vegetable garden, Geoff. Peebles 1, Dale Hutchison 2, Charlotte Crawford 3; merit certificate, Dorothy O'Neil; home flower garden, Ailsa Wallace 1, Joyce Vincent 2, Olga Crawford 3; primary certificates, Mona Clague (dux), Olga Crawford, Dale Hutchison; pet lamb, Dawn Newcombe; calves, dairy breed, Sam Weir 1; certificates, Colin Wallace, Ronnie Watt, Mona Clague, Ray Mitchell, Neil Buchanan.
PARENTS’ DAY ♦GOODWOOD SCHOOL (Special to Times) FENCOURT, Wednesday Goodwood School “Parents’ Day” was responsible for a large gathering of local people. After inspecting the grounds the parents visited the primer room to see the display of work and receive Christmas gifts. The older pupils then entertained fnem with an hour’s programme made up of plays, lectures, choral speaking, singing and band items.
Mr W. Beer, on behalf of the parents expressed pleasure with the function and called for cheers for the teachers, Mrs Duckering and Miss Crouch. The parents then received their gifts from the scholars.
