YACHTSMEN EXPELLED
DISPUTE IN AUSTRALIA WILL NOT RETURN TROPHY * United Press Assn.—Elec. lei. Copyngtu; (Received Dec. 20, 3.15 p.m.) SYDNEY, Dec. 20 “I definitely refuse to give up the world’s championship trophy, because I won it fairly.” This passage appeared in a letter from Mr W. Scahill, read at a meeting of the Eighteenfooter Sailing League. Mr Scahill added in his letter that if the League intended to proceed for the recovery of the trophy it had better interview his solicitors. On Saturday the executive committee of the New South Wales 18footer Sailing League cancelled the registration of the 18-footer Taree and expelled the owner, Mr W. Scahill, and the skipper, Mr B. Swinbourne, from the league. Mr Scahill was expelled for not obeying the request of the league to return the championship cup, which he was given until noon on Friday to do. Mr Swinbourne was expelled for unbecoming conduct at a meeting of the league.
