Mr E. M. Mackersey, of Te Kuiti, was in Hamilton yesterday.

Mr Justice Callan was a passenger on the Limited express for Wellington last night.

Messrs S. W. Nicholson and W. W. Gunson (Auckland) are at the Commercial Hotel.

Lieutenant J. Pountney, of Hamilton, who graduated from the Duntroon Military College, Australia, this month, arrived home to-day.

Messrs C. Miller, B. J. Crawley, E. J. Taylor (Auckland), A. Kirkwood (Rotorua) and A. Horrocks (Wellington) are at the Hamilton Hotel.

Mr R. McCallum, of Blenheim, has resigned from the Board of Governors of Marlborough College. He had been a member of the board since its inception 40 years ago.

Mr A. B. Robson, who for 19 years has been chief clerk and accountant at the Hamilton office of the Public Works Department’s electrical branch, has been transferred to Whangarei. He will be succeeded by Mr R. Agnew, of Wellington.

Mr Hector Bolitho, the well-known author, formerly of Auckland, has been given a commission in the Royal Air Force and has been appointed to a post on the Directorate of Intelligence at the Air Ministry, London.

Dr. H. L. Gould, of Huntly, and formerly assistant-medical superintendent of the Auckland Hospital, was congratulated by the Auckland Hospital Board on Monday night on his appointment as medical superintendent of the Waikato Hospital.

Mr F. J. Farrell, of Hamilton, who was a member of the Auckland Harbour Board in 1930, was in Auckland yesterday to attend a gathering of former members of the board and representatives of shipping interests, presided over by Mr W. B. Darlow, chairman of the board.

Mr R. C. Hannan, of the clerical staff of the Marine Department, Christchurch, received the highest percentage of marks for New Zealand in the recent final examination by the Australian Institute of Secretaries. He has been awarded the New Zealand Divisional Council’s pri7'
