VALUES FOR BEEF WEEKLY FRANKTON SALE Although fptll entries were forward in the beef sections at Frankton today, competition was keen and values were often better. Ox beef sold very, firmly with occasional slight price rises, while cows and heifers, selling under a keen demand throughout, were approximately 10s a head better. Entries, although large, were not as numerous as last week.
There was another large entry of fat sheep and a keen sale was experienced over the early auctions. Buyers showed ready competition for fat pigs and the market was fully firm at last week’s advanced rates. Quotations:— Heavy prime steers, £l2 to £l2 15s; prime. £lO 17s 6d to £ll 10s; lighter. £9 7s 6d to £lO ss; small, £8 to £9 ss: heavy prime cows and heifers, £9 2s to £10; prime, £7 to £8 12s:‘ medium, £5 19s to £6 15s; fat and killable. £4 2s 6d to £5 15s. Pigs: Baconers, 63s to 84s; porkers. 45s to 625.
