SERVICES RECOGNISED
ASSOCIATION WITH PRINTING MR G. BUCKLAND HONOURED A period of service extending over a quarter of a century was recognised yesterday afternoon when a presentation was made to Mr G. E. Buckland, formerly foreman printer at the Waikato Times Office, who recently retired from his position. The manag-ing-director of the Waikato Times, Mr A. E. Manning, and several members of the staff visited Mr Buckland at his home in Somerset Street to i wish him well in his retirement. When making the presentation of a wallet on behalf of the directorate and the staff, Mr Manning paid triI bute to the splendid work carried out ! by Mr Buckland over a long period |of extensive development, and ex- ! pressed regret at the fact that circumstances had made it necessary for Mr Buckland to relinquish the work which he had supervised so efficiently over a long period of time. Further tributes to Mr Buckland were paid by Messrs K. P. Eade, L. A. j Watson, J. C. McCready and H. Caldi well, members of the staff. In reply | the recipient of the presentation ex--1 pressed gratitude for the many kindi nesses that had been extended to him | during his term with the Waikato i Times. The severance of his associations with the firm was a vital ' one, but the many good friends he , had made during that time Were a : great recompense. The function closed with seasonal greetings and musical honours.
