It was considered by the Public Works De- ; partment in a letter to the council that some form of special rating area would be necessary and that all land in Ihe watershed in the Matamata county should be transferred to the Waipa county. | Several councillors maintained that the transfer of the area would be de-
! sirable, Mr J. W. Garland stating that it offered great possibilities as farming land. The chairman. Mr S. C. B. Macky, j considered the unimproved value of the area would be low and the rating j value of the lands served would be ' small. No definite decision was reached.
