CENTENNIAL STAMPS
HISTORY DEPICTED BOOKLET DESCRIBES ISSUE I The Centennial postage stamp issue, now on sale, is in great demand, according to postal authorities in Wellington. It has aroused great interest, especially at the Exhibition, where first supplies have already been sold out. The set comprises 12 stamps, which feature selected subjects representing various phases of New Zealand’s historical and industrial development from the arrival of the Maori about 1350, up to the present day. In the specially prepared booklet issued and compiled by the Post and Telegraph Department of New Zealand, the detailed descriptions of the 12 stamps are well presented. It is pointed out in the booklet that, in order to follow the historical theme, ihe stamps should be grouped as follows:

Period of gold mining (9d stamp); I 9. First shipment of frozen mutton j (6d stamp). 10. Progress of trans--1 port (4d stamp). 11. One hundred i years under the British Crown (lid ! stamp). 12. Giant kauri (Is stamp). ; Maori ornamentation and articles i of ancient Maori use and adornment, | evidence of a native culture of which ! New Zealanders, both Maori and ; pakeha, are justly proud, have been » used in the border work.
