Dec. 16 Publication in the current number of the quarterly Economic Journal of the results of Sir Robert Kindersley’s investigations into British overseas investments in 1938 has aroused great interest. Sir Robert has been conducting these investigations over the past 11 years, and his conclusions are recognised as authoritative and are accepted by economists and statisticians as a basis for other statistical studies. According to his calculations for 1938 there was a net repatriation of capital, amounting to £10.000,000 sterling, while the nominal value of foreign securities held by British owners declined by £61,000,000 sterling.
