COST OF LIVING
RISE IN BRITAIN (Official Wireless) RUGBY, Dec. 15 The cost of living index at December 1 was 73 per cent above the level of July, 1914, against 69 per cent in November. For food alone the index shows a rise of about two per cent in retail prices during the third month of the war. Since the outbreak of the war the total rise in the cost of living, according to the Ministry of Labour index, has been rather less than 72 per cent.
