ELECTRICAL WIRING

SHORTAGE OF MATERIALS CONDUIT AND CABLES The shortage of electrical wiring materials which has existed in Hamilton for some time has now become acute. The manager of one firm stated to-day that it was not selling conduit or cable, as it nad to conserve small stocks for its own use. Another firm, with major projects on hand, has several times almost run out of materials. Government inspections, which are made every five years are being carried out at present, and it is stated that quite an amount of work has resulted through wiring being found unsatisfactory. In some cases the utmost difficulty has been experienced in linding materials to complete re-wiring. Electrical firms attribute the shortage largely to the import restrictions, but defence works have also absorbed u considerable quantity. A large amount of wiring and conduit was required for the Centennial Exhibition. When this closes the material will be available for normal use.
