BRIDAL VEIL FALLS
A SCENE OF GRANDEUR A STRAIGHT DROP OF 180 FEET In a reserve of native bush about 12 miles from Raglan, near Te Mata, is a sight so beautiful that none should miss it. The Bridal Veil Fall is correctly named and all who view it marvel that more publicity has not been given to such a remarkable place. It can be reached by motor-car in about 25 minutes, then a walk along a well-formed track through virgin bush until the stream supplying the fall is reached. When the cliff top is reached, the water takes one unbroken leap into a basin 180 feet below. Much of the water in its descent is broken into spray, which, when the light is suitable, takes on rainbow colours and disposes itself like the graceful, flowing folds of a bridal veil. Make Up a Picnic Party At the cliff top, plenty of space is available for picnic parties to set out the lunch in delightful surroundings. Tree ferns, nikau palms and the real old-time bush makes the background for a happy day’s outing. One thing must be remembered, however: do not light fires in this area. By so doing, the beauty of this wonderful place would in a short space of time become a blackened wilderness. Our advice to all visitors is to make the Bridal Veil Fall trip for certain while in Raglan. It is too good to miss. You will think our recommendation well worth while.
