FAREWELL AFTERNOON
MRS W. L. HOLLIS HONOURED The members of the Hinuera Women’s Institute and friends held a pleasant afternoon function in the hall recently to bid farewell to Mrs W. L. Hollis, who has been a valued member of the Institute and a resident of Hinuera for the past twelve years. The hall was tastefully decorated with flowers and a very enjoyable time was spent with items and competitions. The guest-of-honour and her mother, Mr Darrich were presented with dainty posies. Much appreciated items were given by Mrs J. Menzies (songs). Mrs S. Bayes (songs), Mrs Langlands (songs), Mrs N. Banks (pianoforte solos), Mrs S. Bayes and Miss I. Germann (duets), and Miss Irene Rich (songs). Mrs N. Banks acted as accompanist. A musical competition was won by Mrs T. £> e Renzy and a bird competition by Mrs H. Wright On behalf of the Institute, the president, Mrs E. Robinson, presented Mrs Hollis with a pair of crystal candlesticks, and Mrs T. De Renzy made a presentation of a book on behalf of the library subscribers. Afternoon tea was served by the ladies’ committee.
