RUKUHIA SCHOOL

BREAK-UP CEREMONY As an appropriate break-up for the Christmas holidays, the Rukuhia School held a concert and bring and buy afternoon on Wednesday. Parents and friends were entertained with folk-dancing and singing by the junior pupils, while the senior girls presented a short original play showing their skill in first-aid work learnt during the year. A grand parade brought the concert to a close. In the school room the children’s needle and handy work done during the year was displayed and artistic drawings and paintings also decorated the walls. After the serving of a delicious afternoon tea Miss O’Connor, headmistress presented Miss Corn, her assistant teacher, who * has been transferred, with a hand-carved trinket-case on behalf of the pupils and residents of the districts, stating how much they all regretted her departure. Miss Corn suitably replied congratulating the children on their high standard of work.
