ODDFELLOWS’ FUNCTION

HALF-YEARLY INSTALLATION OFFICERS OF THREE LODGES There was an attendance of more than 200 members of the Manchester Unity Independent Order of Oddfellows at the half-yearly installation of officers of Group 20, which was held in the Railway Social Hail, Frankton Junction, on Wednesday night. This group comprises the Frankton Junction, Ngaruawahia and Hand ol Friendship (Huntly) lodges. Many visitors were present from the Morrinsville, Hamilton, Kirikiriroa, Cambridge, Kaipaki, Tc Awamutu, Te Aroha and Kereone. The installing master was the Auckland District Grand Master, Bro. W. F. Bates, of Te Aroha. Other distinguished officers present were Bros. F. Best, P.D.G.M. and T. W. Thompson, P.D.G.M. (Hamilton), K. T. Scott, P.D.G.M. (Morrinsville), G. F. Westbury, P.D.G.M. (Frankton), and Bro. Honor (Huntly) Group Officer. The honours of the order were conferred on the official party 7 and replies were given by the District Grand Master and others. Members of the public were admitted to see the installation of officers. Bros. R. T. Scott and Honor acted as conductors. Officers were installed as follows: Loyal Ngaruawahia Lodge: N.G., Bro. C. F. B. Frost; V.G., Bro. H. N. Jack; E.S., Bro. A. Smith; 1.P.N.G., Bro. A. I. Walter. Loyal Hand of Friendship (Huntly) Lodge: N.G., Bro. G. Howard; V. G., Bro. J. A. Mclntosh; E. S. Bro. H. Ashcroft; 1.P.N.G., Bro. G. Berry. Loyal Frankton Junction Lodge: N.G., Sister J. Mather; V.G., Bro. S. Woodward; E.S., Sister B. Bremner* 1.P.N.G., Bro. E. Snowden. The N.G.s were installed by Bro. R. T. Scott, the V.G.s by Bro. T. W. Thompson, the E.S.s by Bro. F. Best, and the I.P.N.G.s by the District Grand Master. Presentation Made The presentation was made of a Past Grand’s emblem to Bro. H. J. Haggard, of the Loyal Frankton Junction Lodge. In making the presentation the District Grand Master, Bro. W. F. Mather. : A bouquet was presented to Sister J. Mather, the first sister to become j N.G. of the Frankton Junction Lodge. ! A novelty dance was won by Sister Bremner, Snr. and Mr Healey. I Songs were given by Sister M. Bradley; harmonica item by Mr J. Kilburn and T. Lerkie; humorous recitations by Bro. G. Mather; banio items by Bro. J. Ball; and numbers by the piano-accordion band. Miss Tui Molesworth and Messrs Hains and Cooper played the extras. Supper was provided by the Loyal | Frankton Lodge social committee.
