Leslie Banks In Football Mystery
mystery Leslie Banks’ activities this year have not been confined entirely to stage work. He has played in . “Jamaica Inn,” which has already been shown to the public, and “Dead Man’s Shoes,” which is now awaiting presentation. At the moment, Banks is working in a picture which should please football fans—“ The Arsenal Stadium Mystery.” It’s being made by G. and S. Productions at Denham and features prominently the Arsenal football team and .their manager, George Allison. Another interesting feature of the picture is that it will introduce, as featured players, two young unknowns, Brian Worth and Liane Linden. They play hero and heroine respectively. Five years ago Brian started work in a London office. After a year, t.e threw up his job and became a pupil at the R.A.D.A., where he won the Judge's Gold Medal. Later he appeared in repertory and during the last year or so he has been taking tiny roles in British films. Liane, who is nineteen, is slim, brunette, Swedish and a complete newcomer to pictures. She arrived in England eight months ago to learn dress designing. “Every evening I attended art school,” she says, “but secretly I wanted to be a film actress. So I went to London, called on agents, but nobody bothered about me. “At last, I drew all my savings out of the bank and had a screen test made of myself. It cost me £75. “I sent the test to Captain Richard Norton at Denham, where I heard they were looking for a girl for “The Arsenal Stadium Mystery” and, next thing I knew, they had given me the part.”
