FIRES IN QUEENSLAND

OUTBREAKS ON VESSEL INQUIRIES BY DETECTIVES BUSINESS CENTRE DESTROYED (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyng-nt) BRISBANE, Dec. 13 Detectives are inquiring into two outbreaks of fire on an overseas vessel on which 860 bales of wool were loaded last week. The ship was due to leave port when the first fire was discovered. Eventually the flames were subdued, but subsequently the second fire occurred, which caused extensive damage. A report from the Mount Morgan mining field states that a fire there last night razed 17 shops and practically destroyed the main business centre. The damage is estimated at £50,000. The origin of the fire is not known.
