STRUCK ANOTHER PERSON NEGLIGENT DRIVING CHARGE Charged before Mr S. L. Paterson, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court, Hamilton, today with striking Allan James Tasker in a public place on November 11, Henry Lingman, a miner, of Ngaruawahia, was fined £2 and costs. Constable K. N. Crisp stated that Tasker called at the police station at about 5 p.m. on November 11 and complained that he had been struck by Lingman. His face was bruised. When questioned, Lingman admitted that he struck Tasker. He was under the influence of liquor and had no explanation to offer. Struck Parked Car A fine of £3 and costs and the endorsement of his license was the penalty imposed on Arthur William Hansen, labourer, of Hamilton, when he was charged with negligent driving in Victoria Street. Walter James Woolford stated that when he was driving along Victoria Street at 5 p.m. on November 26 he saw a car ahead of him strike a vehicle which was parked on the side of the road. The parked vehicle was pushed on to the pavement. Frederick Jones said he parked his car on the side of the road on the afternoon of November 26 and when he arrived home some time later he found that it had been struck in the rear. The back was caved in.
Charged with riding unlighted bicycles after dark, Reginald Shaw Matthews and Donald Mcßae were each fined 10s and costs.
