Messrs F. Mullen, M. McKinnon, N. Shanks and E. Smith (Auckland), are at the Hamilton Hotel.

Mr M. J. McNamara has returned to Cambridge after seven months spent in England and Ireland.

Mr F. E. Sutherland, manager of the Auckland Savings Bank, is in Hamilton and is staying at the Commercial Hotel.

Mr F. A. de la Mare, of Hamilton, will leave for Wellington tonight to attend a meeting of the executive committee of the University Senate.

Dr. H. L. Gould, of Huntly, was today appointed by the Waikato Hospital Board as medical superintendent of the Waikato Hospital.

Mr H. W. Wilson, who has been indisposed for some time, attended the meeting of the Waikato Hospital Board today, and was welcomed back by the members.

Mr J. T. McKinnon, of the Public Trust staff, Te Aroha, has been transferred to the Hamilton office, where he commenced duties this week.

Alderman S. S. Crick has been elected Lord Mayor of Sydney, in succession to Sir Norman Nock. Mr Crick is a prominent business man closely identified with the cinema industry.

Mr W. H. Robertshaw, manager of the Wellington branch of the Bank of Australasia, will retire at the end of this week after more than 40 years’ service. He will be succeeded by Mr O. K. Tennent, manager of the Dunedin branch.

Mr R. Cave, of Waitoa, who has been attached to the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy for the past three years, will leave for Australia early in the New Year, where he will undergo a two-year course at the naval school.

A call to the Rev. Duncan Cattanach, of Takapuna, Auckland, has been decided upon by the congregation of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Hastings, as successor to the Rev. D. J. A. Shaw, who resigned his charge a few months ago.

Dr. Peter Buck, the New Zealandborn director of the Bishop Museum, Honolulu, hopes to visit the Dominion shortly. This announcement was made at a meeting of the council of the Auckland Institute and Museum yesterday. It is expected that Dr. Buck will arrive about the middle of January.

Mr R. H. G. Connal, manager of the Bank of Australia, Te Awamutu, who has been transferred to manager at Palmerston North was farewelled at a large gathering of friends. He was the recipient of a presentation, made by Mr L. G. Armstrong, who presided. Opportunity was also taken to welcome the new manager, Mr H. C. Date
