RYELAND SHEEP
BREEDERS’ ANNUAL MEETING REDUCTION OF FEES (By Telegraph.—Press Association' INVERCARGILL, Wednesday At the annual meeting of the Rveland Sheep Society of New Zealand last evening the opinion was expressed that A. and F. associations should be requested to appoint junior judges for this section at their annual fixtures, and a decision to communicate with the associations concerned was made. The president, in the course of his annual report, stated the breed made satisfactory progress throughout the Dominion. The number of flocks registered was 98, compared with 86 in the previous year. Fifteen new breeders joined, and he wished them success. A matter for congratulation was' the number of Ryeland sheep imported from England, bringing new blood into the Dominion. The society’s finances were sound, the surplus exceeding £75. The following office-bearers were elected:—President, Mr H. Withell (Canterbury); vice-president, Mr L. R. Averill (Hawke’s Bay): council, Messrs E. Averiall, R. Budd (Hawke’s Bay). H. C. Hewlett (Auckland), J. W. Ridd (Palmerston North), J. Brooks (Canterbury), S. T. Evans (Southland), W. O. Rennie, J. S. Brooks (Canterbury). It was decided to increase the export fees lor stud rams from 2s Gd to ss. and reduce the fees for stud and flock ewes from 2s 6d to Is.
