Britlsn Butter Price

A motion protesting against the price fixed by the British Government for exported butter, also against the terms of the agreement, was discussed in New South Wales recently by the Clarence River district council of the Primary Producers Union. The general feeling, however, was that the agreement was satisfactory to producers, but that provision should be made for the price to be reviewed regularly and periodically, so that there might be an adjustment to meet any increased costs of production which might have to be faced. Presbyter’s Protest “For the Government to tell us that we cannot go to our people and take up a collection for our chaplains is an impertinence,” said the Rev. J. D. Smith, when speaking in the Auckland Presbytery last night. He had suggested that a collection should be taken for the British Sailors’ Society. “They have no right,” he continued, “to come into church doors, and tell us what we are going to do for our people, and we would be perfectly justified in taking no notice of any regulations of the kind.
