CHRISTMAS TOYS

THE MILITARY SPIRIT SOLDIERS AND GUNS WANTED “BALLOON BARAGE”POPULAR , United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) LONDON, Dec. 12 Toy buyers for London’s largest store say that models of a balloon barrage are the most popular Christmas toy, and that the shops are almost sold out of boxes containing miniature Spitfire fighters, anti-air-craft guns, altitude finders, searchlights and sound detectors. Old-fashioned red-coated foot soldiers and cavalrymen are seldom sought. Instead, children demand modern tin soldiers wearing gas masks, air-raid, wardens, decontaminators and fire-fighters. These are also popular decorations for Christmas and birthday cakes.
