18-FOOTER CHAMPIONSHIP SWINBOURN STILL DEFIANT ORDERED OUT OF MEETING (L'niied Press Ajssn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received Dec. 13, 3.15 p.m.) SYDNEY, Dec. 13 Mr B. Swinbourne was ordered out of a meeting of the EighteenFooter League last night, because he refused to withdraw his criticism of the secretary, Mr J. Giltinan. Mr Giltinan was explaining the action he had taken to recover the world’s championship trophy from Mr. Swinbourne. The league executive decided that the tropny must be returned by noon on Friday, if not, the executive will meet on Friday night to consider the position. Mr Swinbourne stated after the meeting that he had no intention of returning the trophy. On November 29 it was stated that the New South Wales 18-Footer League might take legal action for the recovery of the world championship yacnt cup from B. swinbourne, skipper of the Australian boat Taree. The New South Wales League was seeking endorsement of its attitude from the Queensland League, members of which constitute the Australian Board of Control. Swinbourne said he was determined not to part with the trophy. “I have taken legal advice on the matter,” he said, “and the Board of Control has not a leg to stand on.
The league desired to send the cup to Auckland for presentation to G. Chamberlin, whose boat Manu was declared the champion last season by the Australian Board of Control*
