TROOPS ARE FIT
BRYANT HOME SCHEME CONVALESCENT SOLDIERS FIRST MAN DISCHARGED TODAY When the offer of the Bryant House Trustees, Hamilton, was made to make available the Bryant Home at Raglan for convalescent soldiers, it was realised that the scheme would be very beneficial to the troops recovering from illness and the Government wholeheartedly accepted the offer. In many respects, however, the expected value of the proposal has been surpassed in the short period for which the home has been open to the Army. Excellent results are being obtained. Today the first soldier to be discharged from the home returned to his unit, the Divisional Cavalry, at Hopu Hopu. He is a New Plymouth man, and his praise of the scheme at Raglan is high. In a week at the home his weight increased by Ist.* lib., and in his general fitness it was obvious that the fine sea air and the bountiful supply of fresh cream which is included in the diet had made him fit for military life again after an illness. Other men at the home are increasing in weigh# rapidly also. • At present there are 16 soldiers at Bryant Home. Four entered the home today, three having come from Auckland and one from Wellington. Tomorrow Staff Sergeant-Major Dunlevy, of Auckland, will arrive at the home as Warrant Officer in Charge.
