GIFTS FOR SOLDIERS

COUNTY COUNCIL DISCUSSION CHRISTMAS PRESENTATIONS Consideration was given by the Waikato County Council yesterday to the question of providing Christmas gifts for the soldiers, arising from suggestions forwarded from the Hamilton Borough Council. The plan was to invite residents of the county to contribute toward a fund for the purpose? It was considered by councillors that it was too late to organise such a fund before Christmas, and it was decided to take no action in the matter. No resolution on the subject was before the meeting. In order to express appreciation of services to the county, the members of the council each contributed toward a fund for two members of the council staff who are serving with the special force.
