SHOOTING SEASON

REGULATIONS FOR 1940 (Special to Times) AUCKLAND, Wednesday Regulations governing the shooting season next year were made by the Auckland Acclimatisation Society last night. It was decided to open the season on May 4. The season for quail and pheasant will be open until June 30, but a limited season of two weeks until May 18 will apply for duck. It was decided that limit bags would be the same as last year as follows: Duck, 15; swan, 15; pukeko, 8; pheasant, 9. It was decided to limit the time for claiming places for stands to one week, instead of the customary two weeks, before the opening of the season, and shooters will not be allowed to make their claims before noon on April 28. For the first three days after the opening of the season the stand will be protected, but after that date unoccupied stands can be used by other shooters.
