PRISONERS SENTENCED
CASES IN TARANAKI GAOL FOR SHEEP STEALING (By Telegraph.— Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, Thursday Prisoners were sentenced in the Supreme Court today as follows: Frederick Cowling, farmer, theft of sheep, ordered to pay £5 and sentenced to nine months’ imprisonment with hard labour. Thomas Harris, indecent assault on a boy, committing an indecent act, and common assault, reformative detention not exceeding two years on the first count and no penalty on the others. Amos Edward Williamson, for failing to stop after a motor collision, admitted to probation for one year and ordered to pay £l3 7s 3d, the costs of prosecution. His driving license was suspended and he was disqualified from obtaining a license for 18 months. Robert Angus, theft of a mail bag, one year’s probation and ordered to pay £5 toward the cost of the prosecution. David Dawson, forgery and uttering, admitted to probation for one year and ordered to pay £4 11s, the costs of the prosecution.
