INVESTITURE HELD
HONOURS CONFERRED KNIGHTHOODS AND ORDERS WELLINGTON, Thursday The Governor-General, Lord Galway, held an investiture at Government House, Wellington, this morning, at which His Excellency conferred the honour of knighthood upon Sir William Blaxland Benham, emeritus professor of biology at the University of Otago, and upon Sir Thomas Alexander Hunter, principal of Victoria University College, and invested them with the insignia of Knight Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire. At the same time His Excellency conferred the degree, title, honour and dignity of Knight Bachelor upon Sir Charles Manley Luke, of Wellington.
His Excellency also presented the orders and decorations named to the following:— C.M.G.—Mr A. T. Donnelly, of Christchurch; Mr T. D. Hall, Clerk of the House of Representatives, Wellington; Mr H. Hutchings, of Wellington; Mr A. W. Mulligan, of Wellington; Mr E. N. G. Poulton, of Wellington; Colonel S. C. P. Nicholls, of Christchurch. O.B.E.—Miss J. R. Barr, of Wellington; Mr S. J. Harrison, of Wellington; Mr S. L. Thompson, of Christchurch; Lieutenant-Colonel S. H. Crump, of Wellington. M.B.E. —Miss B. A. Campbell, of New Plymouth; Miss I. M. Corkill, of Christchurch; Miss N.
