RAXGIRIRI CATTLE FAIR »

The New Zealand Loan & Mercantile Agency, Limited, reports a large yarding of cattle at the Rangiriri Cattle Fair last Monday. Considering the market had eased over the past fortnight and the recent spell j of dry weather, prices realised at j 1 this sale were more than satisfac- i tory. Buyers were present from the Auckland, Morrinsville and local j districts. Male cattle were in good demand and sold freely, but female ; cattle were harder to quit and consequently a number of pens did not reach the reserve price. Fat and boner cattle sold briskly with spirited competition. * Quotations: —Prime Jersey cows, ' £6 to £6 10s; lighter, £5 2s 6d to £5 ’ 18s; unfinished, £4 10s to £4 16s; 1 light fat Jersey heifers, £4 7s to £4 15s; heavy boner cows, £3 14s to £4; medium, £3 to £3 10s; empty Short- i horn cows and calves, to £4 Is; ' empty Shorthorn cows and calves, to £4 Is; empty Shorthorn cows and runners, to £6 Is.

Try These Tips

If scalding water is poured over cooking apples, the skins will easily slip off, thus saving much labour. To keep wool clean when knitting, put the ball into a strong envelope and cut a small hole in one corner. Pull the end of the wool through this hole and seal the envelope down. String your hooks and eyes on a large safety pin and your reels of cotton on a piece of ribbon, and they will be easy to find. One of the best and quickest remedies for bee stings is to apply a little bicarbonate of soda to the sting, at the same time drinking a solution of bicarbonate of soda.
